NaNoWriMo is here! Well, day 2 of it at least. Has everyone started? If you’re not participating what are you writing instead? I’m using this years NaNoWriMo to help me get in my daily word count for my new manuscript. It’s looking to be longer than 50,000 words at this point, which means I’ll be plugging away passed the November 30th deadline. That’s the beauty of events like NaNoWriMo, it provides writers with the motivation and inspiration to continue writing knowing that thousands worldwide are doing it along with them. Good luck, good times, good writing!

I hope everyone is NaNoWriMo-ing. If not, it’s not too late. DO IT!
National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) is just under a month away. For those of you who have never heard of it, well…NaNoWriMo is pretty awesome. Obviously more info is available on their website (the link is in the first sentence) but the jist is this: Think of a story for a novel and write the entire thing during the month of November.
I did last year and I “won”, meaning I finished my novel. There’s no prizes per se except for the satisfaction that you wrote a novel (50,000 words) in a month. My approach was just to write about two people and their tumultuous relationship. I had no outline, nor did I have any idea what would happen until I sat down to write everyday. This may not be the best approach but it gave me a first draft that I could edit the hell out of and I’ve been trying to ever since December 1st, 2010 🙂 .
I suggest checking it out and doing it up…you never know what will happen!
Hey, so another link here. This one’s for the 3 Day Novel Writing Contest hosted by…hmmm…the 3 Day Novel Writing Contest. It’s like NaNoWriMo, except over the Labour Day weekend.
Do it! I am.
Hello Blog, It’s been a while. How are you? I was worried we would never see each other again. I’m glad I’m back and writing on you. To be honest, I’ve just been a combination of busy, lazy and jerky.
All that stuff aside though, Scriptapalooza TV has set October 1st of this year for their deadline. I have no idea if this is the final deadline, but that is what they said in their email. I’m sure it will be like all the other competitions, or at least the ones I’ve entered, and have two or three deadlines with the only difference between them being how much you have to pay at each date.
Anyway check it out, the link should be above.
