Your Writing Voice

“Sometimes you have to play for a long time to be able to play like yourself.” – Miles Davis Jr.

I think this quote sums up the idea that “practice makes (nearly) perfect”. In other words, in order for writers (or anyone) to truly come into their own and write like themselves, in their own unique voice, they need to put in time practicing and fucking up. It’s the central idea to Malcolm Gladwell’s Outliers. A great read.
