Mikala Engel’s advice

If you are asking, “Who the hell is Mikala Engel?”, I have an answer. She is the winner of Writer’s Digest‘s 11th Annual Short Story contest.

Her advice on the fun filled world of writing, publishing and being awesome?

“…when you sit down to write, don’t put pressure on yourself to write brilliantly. Rather, realize that you are exercising your skill so that when the moment of brilliance does arrive, you are fully prepared for it.”

Thank you Mikala, and if you are reading this and asking, “Who the hell is Jeff Kerr?”, I don’t blame you. I ask myself that every morning when I look in the mirror. Congrats on the contest win!

The full transcript of Mikala’s interview is available in the latest edition of Writer’s Digest. 🙂
